ANKLA To Embark On Headlining Tour

March 9, 2007

ANKLA, the Los Angeles-based band led by former PUYA guitarist Ramón Ortíz, will embark on its first headlining tour of 2007 this month.

ANKLA (meaning anchor in Spanish) came together to give a voice to the heavier side of Ortiz's musical taste. With bandmates Ikaro Stafford on vocals, José Clark on drums, Tony Castaneda on bass and Oscar Santiago on percussion, ANKLA borrows traditional elements from thrash, death and hardcore metal, exploring and incorporating some of the Latin claves and syncopations that Ortiz has been known for, without ever stepping out of the metallic sound that is intended to push boundaries.

ANKLA's debut album, "Steep Trails", was released through Bieler Bros. Records in July of 2006 and has garnered a great deal of praise, as have their explosive live shows.

"We are very excited to begin this tour," says Ikaro. "It's important to our band because of the fan-base we established in those areas from a previous tour with our labelmates NONPOINT. The response from the fans was so positive and overwhelming that we were high in demand to return to those areas, like our homestate of California, and Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and Puerto Rico."

March 10 - Chic's Bar and Billiards - El Paso, TX
